
Jared Perlo

Before participating in the Tarbell Fellowship, Jared worked on AI policy. He was a Winter Fellow with the Centre for the Governance of AI (GovAI) and worked for the French Center for AI Safety (CeSIA). He studied a variety of AI topics, with special attention to US-China AI relations, AI diffusion in lower- and middle-income countries, and embodied AI (robots).
Prior to that, Jared worked on the policy team at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) at MIT. He focused on health and labor economics and helped start J-PAL’s work with AI, which has since grown into the Partnership for AI Evidence (PAIE).
Jared holds a Masters from the Barcelona School of Economics, an M.Phil from the University of Cambridge, and a Bachelors from Harvard University.
